About Autism In Children

Autistic ChildAutism (ASD) is a broad spectrum of disorders ranging from mild to severe. It is a developmental disability that comes from a neurological disorder which affects the normal functioning of the brain. It is characterized by the abnormal development of communication skills, social skills, and reasoning. Children may appear normal until the age of 30 months.

Children with

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

may exhibit all or some of the following characteristics:
  • Lack of social and emotional responsiveness to people
  • Impaired communication or lack of communication
  • Limited or no eye contact
  • Difficulties with daily routines and activities
  • Resistance to changes in routine
  • Frequent and extreme temper tantrums for no apparent reason- difficult to manage behavior
  • Limited attention span
  • Ritualistic and repetitive play schemes
  • Lack of social imitative play appropriate to age
  • Abnormal responses to sensory input such as sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste, and reaction to pain
